What are the application deadlines?
The Fall 2008 New Student Scholarship Award Application is due Friday, March 28, 2008 and the Spring 2008 Current Student Scholarship Award Application is due November 9, 2007.

How are SCTC Foundation Award recipients selected?
The people who review scholarship award applications include: SCTC Foundation Awards Committee, SCTC Foundation Board Members, SCTC Foundation Donors, SCTC Faculty/Staff, etc. A minimum of three people review and rate each application based on the evaluation criteria. The scores are tallied and then the SCTC Foundation Awards Committee finalizes all award recipients.


What selection criteria is used to rate the applications?
Selection for student awards is made by evaluation of many different criteria. While a scholastic achievement is always desirable, award recipients are selected by evaluation of many different criteria including:

  • Interested/commitment to a program of study.
  • Involvement with school, family, employment or community activities/awards.
  • Life experiences that have influenced personal growth.
  • Application effort.
  • Scholastic Achievement
  • Additional criteria specified by the donor.

When will I know if I’ve been selected as a recipient?
Notifications will be mailed to award recipients on May 1, 2008 for the Fall 2008 New Student Scholarship Award Application and notifications will be mailed to award recipients on December 21, 2007 for the Spring 2008 Current Student Scholarship Award Application. Written notification will only be sent to award recipients.

How does an award recipient receive their award?
SCTC Foundation Award must first be used to offset the cost of tuition and is credited to the student's tuition account for St. Cloud Technical College. If award is greater than tuition, then award may be used to offset the cost of books, supplies, etc. that are related to the student's program of study.

As an award recipient you must meet and maintain all eligibility requirements. If you withdraw from St. Cloud Technical College or withdraw from classes you may be responsible for paying back your entire award and for tuition expenses to the college.

What is expected of an award recipient?

SCTC Foundation Award recipients are expected to send a thank you letter to their SCTC Foundation Award donor and attend the SCTC Foundation Award recognition celebration.

Where can I obtain a school transcript?
Your transcript(s) are a requirement for the SCTC Foundation Awards and are important in determining awards. Please submit your most recent transcript(s) that indicates a cumulative GPA using a 4.0 scale. Your transcript must contain classes taken and grades (GPA). GED graduates must provide proof of their GED test score and a copy of another transcript that indicates classes and grades (GPA) using a 4.0 scale. Transcripts can be obtained from your High School, SCTC Records & Registration Office, and/or from other colleges/universities. Report Cards are NOT transcripts. Transcripts do NOT need to be original. Transcript(s) previously sent to St. Cloud Technical College Admission's office will NOT be used. You must submit a transcript with your award application.

What are the award instructions?

  • The applicant must fill out application. Please type or print clearly.
  • You are automatically considered for all awards for which you are eligible using one application.
  • Retain a copy of the completed application for your files as it will not be returned.
  • A new student is a student who will be accepted into their first program at St. Cloud Technical College beginning Summer or Fall 2008.
  • A current student is a student who has taken classes at St. Cloud Technical College and will be accepted into a program area for Spring 2008 semester.
  • Employees and members of employees' immediate family who are not eligible for tuition reimbursement based on the employment contract from SCTC are eligible for an SCTC Foundation Award.
  • Donors and members of donor's immediate family are not eligible for the fund they donate to.
  • Decisions of the SCTC Foundation Award committee are final.
  • The award can NOT be carried forward to subsequent semester(s).

What is the Personal Applicant Statement form?
The personal applicant statement form is a requirement and is an important factor in determining awards. Make sure to answer every question and attach information on a separate sheet of paper.

Who should I ask to provide me with a Letter(s) of Recommendation?
A college or high school teacher, counselor, staff member, advisor, employer, etc. can complete a letter of recommendation for you. The Letter of Recommendation is a requirement for the SCTC Foundation Awards and is an important factor in determining awards. One letter of recommendation is required, however you may copy the form to submit additional recommendations.

The recommender may complete the letter of recommendation or provide the information on their own letterhead or form. They can either return the form to the student to include with their application or mail directly to the Foundation.  Please make sure if they choose to mail to the Foundation to follow-up with your recommender to insure that they have sent the recommendation.
