Admissions Process
- Review the Cardiovascular Technology information on the website and the Program Admissions Criteria below
- Attend a Cardiovascular Technology Information Meeting
- Apply to SCTC and declare a HCT/Invasive Major
- Plan which classes to take and in what order, based on your schedule, class availability and prerequisites classes. Know your program prerequisites and which classes you need to take. See Program Checklist.
- Contact or meet with the HCT/Invasive Enrollment Specialist each semester if you are uncertain of which classes to take or if you need help understanding if you meet the Program Criteria.
Admissions Information
- Applicants without the prerequisite courses completed may apply to the college as a Health Care Technician/Cardiovascular Technology student. This will allow the applicant to take the preadmission courses.
- Applicants may apply only after successful completion of 2 of the 4 courses listed in this requirement and all 4 courses must be completed prior to starting the program.
- Applicants can apply to the program during the open enrollment period, 3rd Tuesday of September until February 1 of the following year.
- Official transcripts must be attached to college application (visit www.sctc.edu to obtain an application form).
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher from the pre-admission classes is required and a GPA of 2.0 must be maintained in the general education coursework to be considered for admission.
- Applicants must have current CPR, Healthcare Provider.
- Applicants must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or sign a release form. HBV series must be completed prior to students starting the Spring Semester of the 2nd year.

- Prerequisite and General education courses can be transferred from other schools to SCTC. Please contact Lana Feddema at (320) 308-1595 for course equivalents at other colleges and universities.
- Cardiovascular Technology is a very competitive program. Fulfilling the prerequisites is not guarantee to admission to the program.
- The class of 12 students is selected in the spring with preference given to students that have completed all pre-requisites.
- The applicants, who do not have all prerequisites completed or enrolled in the courses by the February 1 deadline, will be considered for admission.
