Men's Basketball 2009 NIAC Champions

BEMIDJI - St. Cloud Technical College won its first Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with the win over Trinity Bible College.
The Cyclones’ Ryan Hoelscher won the game with 1.1 seconds left on a putback basket. After calling a timeout with 5 seconds left, Hoelscher missed a layup off the set inbounds play, but tipped in the rebound for the winning margin. Tech led 43-42 at the half.
Hoelscher led the Cyclones (9-4 conference, 10-8 overall) with 26 points, Zach Nordling and Jordan Hoelscher each had 14 points, Nick Faust had 15 points and Sam Feldhege had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
The game featured 17 lead changes and 11 ties.
“It was a rewarding experience for our guys,” Tech head coach John Haller said. “We jelled as a team as the season progressed. We played an exciting three games at this tournament.”
