Cyclone Mentor Connection Program

We are glad you are interested in St. Cloud Technical College's Mentorship Program. We know you will gain valuable information and guidance with professionals willing to share their experiences.

Cyclone Mentor Connection Program What do you gain by being a part
of the Mentorship Program?

For Students:
* Build your professional network.
* Refine your communication and professional skills.
* Access to people, places and things outside of your environment.
* Career advice from a professional in your field.

For Mentors:
* Support a future leader in your industry.
* Refine coaching and mentoring skills.
* Offer support and share knowledge with students.
* Connect with St. Cloud Technical College.

How It Works
First, complete an online application to the left. After reviewing students' and mentors' interests and expectations, Cyclone Mentor Connection staff will notify you via e-mail with the name and contact information of the person you have been matched with.

We will find a professional for each student, someone who has the same education and career background as the student. The mentorship isn't an internship, nor is it intended to lead to a job at the mentor's workplace. It is simply a chance to talk candidly, to learn about life after college and to begin that transition from college life to the "real world."

When the matching process is complete, mentors and students attend a kick-off event. This event will provide the opportunity for the mentor and student to meet each other as well as receive information about the expectations of the Mentorship program.

After that, it's up to you! Some pairs meet twice a month, others once a month. In most cases, the student will tour the mentor's workplace. Other popular mentorship activities include resume writing, job search planning, portfolio/tape critiquing and networking. It is not unusual for some relationships to endure as students earn their degrees, seek employment, and begin their careers.

Deadline: September 12, 2008

SCTC Cyclone Mentor Connection Program runs on the academic calendar year from September until May. If you complete an application in the middle of the academic year, your application will be considered for the upcoming Fall Semester.
