College Credit for High School Students
|
|
Get a jump-start on your college career! You can earn college credit through SCTC while still a high school student in a variety of ways. You may participate in special programs or take designated classes at your high school. Or, you can come to our campus and attend regular college classes as a post-secondary student.
There are some restrictions and special qualifications you must meet in order to take advantage of these opportunities. The best way to get started is to talk to your high school guidance counselor. Additional information and helpful links are provided below.
Post-Secondary Option
Post-Secondary Option (PSEO) offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take courses at eligible post-secondary institutions. Students must meet the admissions requirements of the post-secondary institution, but do not pay for tuition, fees, or books. They earn high school credit for courses, and if students continue their education beyond high school, colleges or universities transfer their completed coursework throughout PSEO as college credits.

Tech Prep
St. Cloud Technical College is working with area high schools to provide educational pathways in technical programs for students. Students participate in college-level course work in their high school to earn a certificate that transfers to the college. Success in certain high school courses may qualify students for Tech Prep College Credit at St. Cloud Technical College.

Discovery Academy
Discovery Academy is a high school initiative of St. Cloud Technical College involving various cooperating central Minnesota high schools. Courses are taught by St. Cloud Technical College instructors or specifically trained high school teachers. All courses are credit-based and earn a college transcript.
