This three-hour range only course is designed for the true novice who would like a “hands-on” introduction to motorcycle controls and their operation before taking the Basic Rider Course. This course is not a pre-requisite for the BRC. There are no written or skills tests for this course and a motorcycle permit is not required; however, students will need to possess a valid driver’s license or a driver’s permit.
Basic Rider Course (BRC)-$160
The Basic Rider Course offers the most complete motorcycle training available. Students must complete 14.5 hours of integrated instruction: 4.5 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of practice on a training motorcycle. This course is divided into two phases: Level 1 concentrates on motorcycle familiarization, clutch control, throttle control, riding posture, and the four basic skills: straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. Level 2 includes limited-space maneuvers, counter-steering, cornering, and swerving.
Scooter Basic Rider Course-$160
This course is a regular BRC for scooters only. Students bring their own scooters up to 500cc to ride in the course, including small scooters over 50cc or more than two horsepower and require a motorcycle operator’s license. Scooter operators can earn the motorcycle endorsement required to operate their scooter on the street. Students will need to have a valid motorcycle permit or one expired less than one year to test for their endorsement. They will also need to present proof of current insurance on their scooter and it will need to pass a T-CLOCS inspection. This course may play especially well if you have an unused range or are a mobile site that shares a trailer as students are supplying their own bikes similar to the ERC. Please note with DVS’ stricter testing enforcement for motorcycle endorsement, there are many small scooters that are 50cc that have more than two horsepower and require a motorcycle operator’s license These small scooters also are allowed, along with scooters over 50cc, in the regular BRC.

Training motorcycles are provided, or you may ride your own motorcycle or scooter,

Motorized Bicycle Course (Moped)-$25
This 4.5-hour course includes moped rules and regulations, defensive riding techniques, protective clothing, and alcohol information. Any 15-year-old who wants to ride a moped on the street must complete this course to obtain a moped instruction permit.
Experienced Rider Course (ERC)-$55
If you are comfortable on your own motorcycle and ready to try something new, the five-hour ERC Skills Plus course will build upon your existing skills and knowledge.
