This tobacco Use policy was based on student, faculty and staff deliberation and recommendations. This policy is not intended to deny individuals their use of tobacco products on campus, but rather to limit the negative visual and environmental impact of tobacco litter and the potential adverse effects of second-hand tobacco smoke on others.

Procedure

There shall be no use of tobacco products in any college owned or leased buildings or vehicles.
The use of tobacco on the SCTC campus will only be permitted as stated below:

  • In, or within the immediate area of, the smoking shelter located near door 9.
  • In, or within the immediate area of, the smoking shelter located by the Autobody and Automotives areas.
  • In, or within the immediate area of, the smoking area located by Door 5, commons patio.
  • In parking lots “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D”, only while the individual is in his/her vehicle or is walking to or from a vehicle. If an individual is smoking in these areas, the disposal of tobacco must be in his/her vehicle or in a designated receptacle near the edge of the parking lots. Sidewalks and driveways are not part of any parking lot.
  • Only with Presidential approval at college sponsored ceremonial events.

It is expected that all individuals will comply with this policy. Willful violation of this policy may result in a student conduct citation or faculty/staff disciplinary procedure.
